Troy's Story
In the spring of 1983, Gary and Diann Lampe were permitted to adopt a two-and-a-half year old son named Troy.
Troy was and is our pride and joy.
Over time, Troy Aaron developed addictive behaviors.
The reasons are not important; what is important to acknowledge, however, is that for the rest of his short life, Troy Aaron was a recovering addict.
Equally important is the hard truth that we, his parents, were often his enablers.
Through a number of attempts, Troy was able to begin facing his demons.
At the time of his death, which was due to a car wreck, Troy Aaron was clean.
As his parents, we well know the struggles Troy Aaron faced.
An essential part of battling addiction is knowing and trusting a God who forgives and accepts us for who and what we are.
